Lumineers are the latest generation of porcelain veneers. As thin as contact lenses, very minimal tooth structure is removed for lumineers to fit over natural tooth structure. In traditional veneers, anesthetic is always used as up to 50% or more of healthy tooth structure may be removed. In most Lumineer cases, the preparation of teeth requires no anesthetic as very little tooth structure is removed.
